Intermediate Level Course
This course is targeted at technical level public officials and/or private sector insurance/reinsurance
representatives who will be or are responsible for the implementation of the risk management programs and who have completed
the Beginning Level Course.
While more advanced than the beginning level, course topics remain generic but incorporate case studies from international
jurisdictions that are germane to the participants. This technical level course will ask participants to provide examples of
actual data and infrastructure information from their respective countries for case study analysis. Instruction will focus on
the elements of an effective insurance scheme and its descriptive submission to access private risk capacity; how to introduce
an agricultural insurance scheme; how to introduce sales and communication strategies; and how to develop loss assessment techniques
and assess premium and coverage with limited data sets. Course material can be augmented (based on clients needs) with practical
workshops where participants begin to develop crop and/or livestock insurance programs with supporting infrastructure, governance,
and legislation under the tutelage of Institute faculty.
